Doug Galasko
Douglas Galasko, MD, received his medical degree in South Africa at University of Witwatersrand, followed by training in Internal Medicine, and a Neurology Residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He completed a Fellowship in Geriatric Neurology and Dementia at UC San Diego and the Veterans Administration Medical Center. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Neurosciences at UC San Diego and a Staff Physician at the VA Medical Center. He is Associate Director of the NIA-funded Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, the site PI of the PPMI project, and co-Director of the Lewy Body Dementia Association Center of Excellence.
He receives research funding from NIA, the Michael J. Fox Foundation, the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation, and the State of California. Dr. Galasko’s research interests include developing biomarkers for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease as well as translation into clinical trials of novel therapeutic agents.
